Bady Dalloul

Bady Dalloul (b. 1986, Paris) is a French Syrian multimedia artist whose work entwines historical events, personal facts and fiction. His works are imbued with sociological and historical reflections on his heritage and issues of global migration. Reflecting on territorial demarcations, Dalloul questions West-centered historiography and knowledge production. Through drawing, video, and objects, Dalloul engages a dialogue between the imagined and the real by questioning the logic of writing history.

Recipient of the Prize for Arab Contemporary Creation awarded by the Friends of the Institut du Monde Arabe in 2017 and the Sciences Po for Contemporary Art Prize.

Bady Dalloul has had in solo exhibitions at Untilthen Gallery in Paris (2016) and Darat al Funun (2019), and he was featured in a solo exhibition at the Arab Museum of Modern Art Mathaf Qatar project space in 2022. Upcoming solo exhibitions include the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo (2024) and the Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon (2026). Additionally, Dalloul has participated in group exhibitions at Jameel Arts Center (2024), Palais de Tokyo in Paris (2020), Gulbenkian Foundation, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (2022), Valencia d’Art Modern - IVAM (2020), and Warehouse 421 in Abu Dhabi (2019), among others.
