Lamya Gargash is shortlisted as one of the five artists for the Richard Mille Art Prize, part of the fourth edition of Art Here 2024 at Louvre Abu Dhabi, curated by Simon Njami.

Louvre Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with Richard Mille, invited contemporary artists from the GCC and North Africa (both nationals and residents). The theme for this year’s edition is Awakenings. Taking place outdoors and under the dome, Art Here 2024 provides artists the opportunity to present new commissioned artworks within one of the world’s most extraordinary museum settings.

Gargash’s 2-meter beach ball sculpture Debutante Ball (2024), made entirely of UAE sand, not only serves as a confrontational piece but also provokes the imagination and addresses human ignorance and stereotypes.
