Front Lane, Alserkal Avenue, DubaiAbbas Akhavan’s public art commission Stock: Variation on a Fountain (2024), commissioned by Alserkal Arts Foundation curated by Zoé Whitley.Akhavan has created a welcoming installation that serves as a reminder of the area’s history and of the Avenue itself. Inspired by historical fountains made of marble and stone, the installation remains true to these materials. Constructed from found materials sourced from Alserkal’s own long-term storage, marble chunks and cut pieces are arranged to form seating and to create water features, inviting passers-by to linger, rest, and reflect in an atmosphere of pleasure and respite.
Zoé Whitley will be leading Walk With Me, a guided tour of the public art commissions which includes Akhavan's commission for Alserkal Arts Foundation, Stock: Variation on a Fountain (2024).17 November, 4pm

Alserkal Art Week celebrates the act to simply be, honouring the preciousness of physical presence in a world shaped by displacement and virtual connections.
